We have added a plugin that allows you to sign in to your forum account via steam, as well as allowing users to create forum accounts based on their steam accounts. For you who exist, you should link your forum accounts up with your steam accounts to prevent creating multiple accounts.

While logged in, click the "log in through steam" button near the top. It will ask you to link your accounts. Click yes. That's all there is to it. We have also added a plugin that shows your steam name/status. To get this working, all you need to do is log in with steam and link the account. moon sucks ass

It has been an exciting and progressive week here at Negroserver. With so many things to talk about, it's hard to determine where to start. A few days ago, we had to lease a new IP following some network maintenance. You will have found our servers missing from your favorites. While our sub domain, idle.negroserver.com , will always point to our current IP, it can sometimes take a little while for DNS servers to update their entry for our address. We are happy to announce the return of Negroserver TTT! Still being developed, our fresh "Trouble in Terrorist Town" server is loaded with custom plugins and amazing maps. Our invite only, official Steam group, http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Negroserver , has passed 500 members for the first time. While not an amazing number when compared to massive public groups, this is, for us, a neat benchmark. We only invite people who we recognize as reoccurring clients, and intelligent ones at that. Every member of that group, was at one point or still is, a regular member of the Negroserver community. We want to thank and acknowledge each and every one of them for all the support and good times over the past 4.5 years.

Over the past 48 hours, we have received a multitude of donations, for which we are incredibly thankful for. However, many of these donations did not include your STEAMID, and one is requesting money FROM us. Nothing is automated in the donation process. I am now attempting to contact these donors to find out WHO they are, as well as tying to determine who REQUESTED a payment from us.

We thank you once more for the unexpected and overwhelming amount of support we have received over the past 48 hours.

Negroserver Game Servers will be brought down through the night and into the next morning, from approximately 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT (-4 GMT), Wednesday June 25th as we perform network testing and maintenance. Following this, we expect an IP change. This post will be edited to include our new IP once it has been leased. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for your patience, and we'll see you back in game soon!

Negroserver coffers are at an all time low. If you want to see the servers survive beyond July, we need to raise some funds asap. If we cannot, I will be forced to start selling off my personal property and eliminating reoccurring payments. This year, we have an average of $40 per month in donations, which doesn't even cover the cost of the connection, let alone hardware, software, and website costs. If we cannot raise enough money to pay the bills, we will be playing TF2 on eGo servers by Sept 1st. After footing this months billing cycle, I have 15 dollars to my name, so I can no longer afford to offset the balance of our piss-poor average monthly revenue. Short of some miracle, I honestly believe that this could be the end, unless you, the players, can make a difference. I no longer have the means to eat these losses. Blame Obama.

If 25% of our '18,000 unique visitors per month' donate 1 dollar this month, we would raise enough money in that one month to survive for the next 15 months. Please, if you have enjoyed the services we have provided you over the past four years, contribute what you can.

Edit: To coincide with our current donation drive, we have reduced the cost of ranks 1 and 2, from $10 and $15 to $5 and $10, respectively, and also extended the duration of said perks from one month to 3 months.

In effort to encourage people to spend time on our servers and reward those who do, we've created a new plugin that will track your hours per week and give you access to commands and perks based off that.

There are three tiers:

5 Hours
After 5 hours of playtime you will gain access to:

sm_footprints - apply the TF2 Halloween footprint effects to yourself
sm_untaunt - stop taunting

10 Hours
After 10 hours of playtime you will gain access to:
Green chat message color
sm_annotate - annotate something
sm_deleteannotation - remove an annotation
sm_mutecheck - check who has muted you
sm_buildingcolors - change the color of your buildables

15 Hours
After 15 hours of playtime you will gain access to:
Blue chat message color
sm_colorme - colorize yourself
sm_hsay - display a hud message
sm_friendly - make yourself friendly

Due to the recent implementation of killstreak weapons, users who have installed custom client mods may crash when joining a server that has players with killstreaks. It would appear older HUD mods and custom particle effects will cause your game to crash, unless they are updated to support killstreaks. As more players acquire these items, this issue will become more prevalent. I have encountered 4 users with this issue, all were resolved by uninstalling these mods. The only mod that I can name is the "Pop It" medic taunt, due to its custom particles. Rest assured, though, this is not the only mod that will result in TF2 crashes when a killstreak is active. This issue probably affects a lot of players, but due to the current rarity of killstreak items, has probably not yet been identified and addressed by authors of older mods.
